A respected and experienced crew who were lost on their 23 rd operation while attacking Dortmund, May 4/5 th 1943. They are believed to have been shot down by Lt Robert Denzel 12./NJG1.

Wing Commander Don Saville, DFC officer commanding No.218 Squadron in a letter to F/Lt Turners wife dated May 11 th wrote “ Flight Lieutenant Turner has been a member of this squadron for over five months and has always shown himself a capable officer of a rather reserved nature, and a excellent captain of aircraft, with a wealth of operational experience, which would naturally be of great help in any emergency he may have found himself on this night.”
