Dennis was the observer on board Short Stirling Mk.I W7475 HA-Z (of 218 Conversion Flight), which failed to return from the attack on Hamburg July 28/29th 1942.  A victim of Texel’s Marine Flak the aircraft crashed at 03.48hrs just off the island of Sylt killing the entire crew. The crew were on their fifth operation.
